Frequently Asked Questions
About Do Rogha
-
Do Rogha is a nonprofit initiative developing a trusted platform that will connect donors with verified requests for essential items from frontline organisations across Ireland.
Our aim is to make giving more transparent by allowing donors to fund specific needs, while ensuring donations are used exactly as intended.
-
Rather than providing unrestricted funding, Do Rogha will enable donors to support specific, verified requests for essential items made by community organisations.
Our role is to verify requests, purchase the items directly and arrange delivery, providing transparency throughout the process.
-
Not yet. We're currently working with frontline organisations to develop the platform and prepare for a pilot, while preparing the governance and documentation required for charity registration before launch.
For Organisations
-
We're developing Do Rogha for registered charities and community organisations providing essential support, such as food security, homelessness services, family support, community development and disability services.
-
Essential goods that directly support the organisation's work, such as food, hygiene products, bedding, school supplies, household essentials or other practical items. All requests will be reviewed before being published.
-
No. Organisations will not pay to submit requests or participate in the platform.
-
No. Donations will be used to purchase the requested items directly from suppliers.
-
Yes. Organisations will be able to submit multiple requests over time, subject to our guidelines and available funding.
-
Requests that aren't funded immediately will remain available for donors for a period of time.
As we develop the platform, we'll continue refining how requests are managed to ensure fairness and transparency.
-
We'll aim to keep administration to a minimum. Organisations may be asked to confirm delivery and provide a simple update so donors know their contribution has reached its intended destination.
-
The only information we'd need relates to your organisation, not your clients.
Before an organisation can post requests, we'd carry out a one-time verification to confirm it's a legitimate registered organisation (e.g. by checking your charity number or other governance details).
We'd also verify that the person submitting requests is authorised to do so on the organisation's behalf (e.g. using a work email address or manager confirmation). This helps protect both organisations and donors from fraudulent requests.
We would never ask for, store, or share any information about your clients. Likewise, the delivery confirmation provided to donors would simply be a photo of the items delivered, not of the people receiving them or of an identifiable location.
-
No. This is something we’ve been very conscious of from the beginning. The intention is for Do Rogha to reduce pressure on organisations, not add to it. Providers would simply submit a request for a specific item or supply they need, and Do Rogha would handle the rest: from donor communications and fundraising through the platform to purchasing, supplier payments, delivery coordination and confirming delivery back to donors. The aim is to make accessing additional support as straightforward as possible.
-
With Do Rogha, no money moves through your accounts at all. A donor funds one specific item, we purchase it directly from a supplier, and we deliver it to you. Nothing changes in how your existing funding works. Do Rogha funding is designed to fill gaps around existing statutory or grant support, never to replace or duplicate it.
-
No. Like many forms of charitable funding, Do Rogha cannot guarantee that every future request will be funded. Our aim is not to replace existing funding streams, but to provide organisations with an additional way to secure essential items when needs arise.
Over time, as the platform grows and more donors become involved, we hope to increase both the number of requests funded and the consistency of support available.
For Donors (more coming soon!)
-
Once the platform launches, donors will receive confirmation when funded items have been purchased and delivered to the organisation.
-
Yes. One of Do Rogha's core principles is choice. Donors will be able to browse verified requests and decide which one they'd like to fund.
-
Yes. Larger requests may be funded by multiple donors working together.
-
Do Rogha purchases items directly to create a simple and transparent experience for both organisations and donors. It allows donors to see exactly what their contribution has provided, while saving organisations the time and administrative effort of sourcing and purchasing the items themselves.
-
Once Do Rogha is a registered charity and meets the relevant requirements, eligible donations may qualify for tax relief in accordance with Irish legislation.
Trust & Verification
-
Before an organisation can publish requests, we'll verify its registration and governance details. We'll also confirm that the person submitting requests is authorised to act on the organisation's behalf.
-
No. Do Rogha will never require personal information about the people your organisation supports.
-
No. Any delivery confirmation shared with donors will show the donated goods, not the people receiving support or any identifiable location.
-
Organisations and authorised users will be verified before requests are published. We also intend to review requests to ensure they meet our eligibility criteria.
-
We're currently working with organisations and suppliers to develop a delivery model that works for communities across Ireland, including rural areas.
-
Every request will be reviewed to ensure it meets Do Rogha's eligibility criteria and aligns with our mission of supporting essential community needs.
-
Our goal is to develop clear, transparent guidelines so that organisations have equal access to the platform and requests are managed consistently.
Pilot & Future Plans
-
We believe the people using Do Rogha should help shape it.
Feedback from frontline organisations is guiding how the platform is designed and helping us build a service that is practical, transparent and responsive to real needs.
-
We're currently preparing for our pilot while progressing our charity registration. Updates will be shared on our website as the project develops.
-
We're currently speaking with organisations interested in helping shape Do Rogha. If you'd like to learn more, we'd love to hear from you!
-
We're taking a phased approach to launching Do Rogha. Starting with a pilot allows us to test the model, learn from experience and grow sustainably as more organisations and donors join. This helps us build a service that can support communities over the long term.
